Central estimate of the average extent to which citizens are satisfied with democracy in their own country. It combines responses across more than one thousand nationally-representative surveys on how citizens' satisfaction with democracy.
What the numbers show
Citizen satisfaction with democracy is currently reported for 128 countries. The highest value is 3.03 in Denmark; the lowest is -2.43 in Madagascar.
The median across all reporting countries is -0.0822, and the mean is -0.0064.
Over the past decade 62 countries rose and 66 fell. The largest increase was in Estonia (up 316.6%), and the largest decrease in Colombia (down 10,878.8%).
